Reza Ramezan, Ph.D.

I am a statistician in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo. My current research interests are, predominantly, in statistical analysis of neuronal data, particularly in modelling of  neural spike trains. Neural action potentials are often called spikes because they tend to be strongly localized in time. A sequence of such spikes from a single neuron is called a spike train. I am interested in multivariate analysis of such data, particularly, in developing computationally efficient probabilistic models within point process frameworks.

Available Positions:

Ph.D.: Currently, I have no more positions for Ph.D. candidates in statistics. Having said that, if you are in another department (math faculty or otherwise), I am happy to collaborate or act as a co-supervisor.

Master's and Undergraduate: I have a few positions for master's and undergraduate research students. If you are interested in my research, please send me an email and attach your CV and sample publications (if you have any).
